Information ReadEase stores

ReadEase stores your reading preferences — such as font choice, size, spacing, color filter values, and whether Bionic Reading or Read Aloud settings are enabled — usingchrome.storage.sync. This data is stored locally and, if you are signed into Chrome, may sync across your own devices through your Google Account, subject to Google's own Chrome sync policies. We do not have separate access to this data on our own servers.

Information ReadEase does not collect

ReadEase does not collect:

• Your browsing history
• The content of pages you visit
• Personally identifiable information such as your name or email address
• Analytics or tracking identifiers tied to your browsing activity

Browser permissions

ReadEase requests the following Chrome permissions, used strictly as described:

• Storage: to save your reading preferences locally, as described above.
• Tabs: to apply your reading settings to the currently active tab and broadcast changes to other open tabs.
• Web navigation: to re-apply your saved settings after back/forward navigation, so your preferences remain active as you browse.

Text-to-speech (Read Aloud)

Read Aloud uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis engine to narrate selected text or full pages. This processing happens locally in your browser using voices installed on your operating system; page text is not sent to ReadEase's servers or any third party for this feature.

Third-party services

ReadEase does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking scripts inside the extension itself. This website (readease.app) may use standard, privacy-respecting hosting infrastructure; it does not share extension usage data with advertisers.

Children's privacy

ReadEase does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because ReadEase does not collect personal information from any user, this applies equally to users of all ages.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
