Getting started
- Install ReadEase from the Chrome Web Store.
- Pin the extension to your toolbar for one-click access.
- Open any webpage and click the ReadEase icon to open the settings popup.
- Toggle features on in the Reading, Type, Spacing, or Color panels — changes apply instantly.
Feature guides
Bionic Reading
ReadEase generates a bionic fixation pattern for every word on the page in real time. Your brain fills in the rest of each word from memory, which reduces fixation time and helps you read faster with better focus and comprehension.
Read Aloud
Read Aloud uses your browser's native speech engine to narrate any webpage. Choose from every voice installed on your system, and set playback speed anywhere from 0.75x to 2x. Perfect for proofreading, multitasking, or reducing eye strain.
Custom Fonts & Font Size
Pick from twelve font styles, including OpenDyslexic — a typeface designed specifically for readers with dyslexia — plus Arial, Georgia, Verdana, and more. Font size scales independently of the page's own styling, from 33% up to 200%.
Line Height & Letter Spacing
Cramped, single-spaced text is one of the biggest barriers to comfortable reading. ReadEase lets you set line height from 1x to 3x, letter spacing from -1px to +3px, and force left, center, right, or justified alignment on any page.
Color Filter & Themes
Fine-tune five independent color sliders to cut glare, reduce blue light, or boost contrast for low-vision reading. A one-click invert mode lightens already-dark pages, and preset High Contrast, Warm, and Cool themes cover common needs instantly.
Works Everywhere, Instantly
Settings are stored once and synced through Chrome, then broadcast live to every open tab. Turn ReadEase on or off globally with a single switch in the toolbar, with instant effect and no page reload required.
